Description: This set of three antique lithographs depicts various Diptera (fly) species from the Dutch natural history exploration of Midden-Sumatra (Central Sumatra) in the late 19th century. The plates are titled *Midden-Sumatra IV.9* with plates *Dept. Pl. I*, *Pl. II*, and *Pl. III*, drawn by F.M.W., lithographed by A.J.W., and printed by P.W\.M. Trap.
The first plate illustrates Sciara species, with anatomical details of wings, antennae, and mouthparts. The second plate focuses on Microdon and Daxia flies, showing full body illustrations, eyes, wing venation, and larval forms with meticulous scientific accuracy. The third plate depicts diverse species including Chrysopacha and Discomyza flies, showing their morphological diversity with detailed studies of their wings, legs, and head structures.
