## What this business is

Bartele Gallery buys, catalogues and sells original antique works on paper.
Every item offered is an original sheet of the period stated. The gallery does
not deal in reproductions, facsimiles or modern prints.

Two public sites, one catalogue:

- **bartele.net**: the full catalogue, shipped insured worldwide from the
  Netherlands.
- **bartelegallery.com**: the Jakarta gallery's own site. Its standing
  collection of high-end Indonesia, VOC and Asia material is shown in person by
  appointment at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski.

## How buying works

There is no shopping cart, deliberately. Sheets at this level are bought after
a conversation about condition, framing, shipping and insurance. A visitor
either sends an enquiry to reserve a sheet, or makes a private offer. The
gallery then confirms the sheet, quotes insured shipping to the destination and
issues an invoice with a payment link. Nothing is charged until the buyer
approves it.

Listed prices match the gallery's other sales channels. Discounts are not
published; a better price is reached through a private offer.

## How the catalogue is described

- Condition is reported candidly, including faults: paper tone, foxing,
  centrefold, margins, tears, repairs, trimming and restoration.
- Colouring is always stated as uncoloured, original hand colour, later hand
  colour or printed colour, because the distinction materially affects value
  and is frequently misrepresented in the trade.
- Attribution is never invented. Where a maker cannot be established from the
  sheet, it is catalogued as unknown.
- Dimensions are measured, not estimated from a reference book.

VisualArtwork, including maker, date, technique, dimensions, condition and
offer. A machine-readable feed of the published catalogue is available in JSON,
