Antique print, titled: 'Aertbeevinge tot Jedo.' - ('Earthquake in Edo').
A temple falls to ruins because of an earthquake in Yedo (or Edo, Jeddo; now Tokyo). Men and women lament in the foreground, and are drowned in the raging flood. Arnoldus Montanus' "Gedenkwaerdige Gesantschappen der Oost-Indische Maatschappy in 't Vereenigde Nederland aan de Kaisaren van Japan […]. Amsterdam: Jacob Meurs, 1669.
Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Arnoldus Montanus'.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. A small stain in the top edge of the image. Some small stains and foxing in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
