Antique print, titled: 'Beschryving van de Japansche Apen-tempel.' - ('Description of the Japanese Monkey Temple').

Interior of a temple filled with (live) monkeys. These were thought to be the intermediaries between the Gods and Humans. Therefore supplicants left offerings to the monkeys.
