Les Alliés à Paris and 1815, Scenes de Moeurs: La Nouvelle fashion ou l'Ecossais à Paris. Friendly Soldier from Prussian regiment dressed in a uniform coat, collar and cuffs in contrasting color. Sable losely hanging on his belt. Next to him is a woman dressed in a full-sleeved dress and checkered tunic (?), holding a parasol, trimmed with fringes. The print is part of a series of 14 fashion prints, 'Les Alliés à Paris and 1815, scenes de Moeurs', Paris, 1815.
Auguste Blanchard fils aîné or, primary name Blanchard, Auguste II Jean Baptiste Marie. He is the printmaker, born in France (1792-1849). No. 59, Quai des Augustins, Paris (living with his father)
Biography: Engraver, eldest son of Auguste père; never signed with his complete name (Auguste Jean Baptiste Marie), prefering to use 'Aug. Blanchard' or simply 'Blanchard' instead; however, also signed as 'Blanchard fils (1812/16), 'Blanchard fils ainé' (1815), 'Blanchard ainé' (1825/40); and since he himself had a son named Auguste, he signed some of his later plates as 'Blanchard père' (1845/49); therefore confusion with his own father still occurs.
Nice and clean condition of the print, with the colours of the old hand-coloring still fresh. A small crease from top to bottom in the middle. Study image carefully.
