Very rare untitled antique woodcut map showing the region of the missionary journeys of Apostle Paul. It shows the Mediterranean with Greece, Asia Minor (Turkey), Northern Africa, Southern Italy and surroundings. With small legend including six islands (Samos and others). With descriptive text below the map.
This map originates from 'The Bishop's Bible' published in 1568. The Bishops' Bible is an English edition of the Bible which was produced under the authority of the established Church of England in 1568. It was substantially revised in 1572, and the 1602 edition was prescribed as the base text for the King James Version that was completed in 1611.
