At the bottom, the caption reads: “St. Paul foretels his own Death & Martyrdom, & warns Timothy against Hereticks.” To the left side of the image, broken chains and a shackle lie on the ground, further symbolising Paul’s imprisonment and ultimate liberation through faith.
