Antique print titled 'Naturel de l'Archipel Romanzoff'. Hand colored woodcut of a native man of Tikei Island, Tuamotu group, French Polynesia. Wearing a grass skirt, rolled green-leaf ear plugs, necklace, and headdress. His body decorated with geometric tattoos. Adapted from a portrait of Larik, chief of the Romanzoff islands.
This print originates from Auguste Wahlen's "Moeurs, Usages et Costumes de tous les Peuples du Monde", (Manners, Customs and Costumes of all the People of the World). Published 1845.
