It shows a Dutch interior with a group of Dutch friends gathered in the house of Biberius by night; some men seated around a table and playing tric-trace, two others looking at a portrait painting on the right wall. Part of a series of masterprints published circa 1850.
Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Tieleman Cato Bruining’ after ‘Cornelis Troost’.
Tieleman Cato Bruining (1807-1877) was a Dutch painter, lithographer and book illustrator. Cornelis Troost (1696-1750) was an 18th century actor and painter from Amsterdam. He is mainly remembered for his works depicting the Amsterdam Theatre, as well as making theatre decorations.
Condition: Fair/good, image trimmed. Minor wear, strong toning. Blank verso. Please study image carefully.
