This work was published in Utrecht by Hermanus Besseling in 1743.
The illustration portrays the biblical narrative of the seventh plague described in the Old Testament. In this plague, Egypt was afflicted by a destructive storm of hail, accompanied by thunder and lightning, causing widespread devastation to crops and livestock. Despite Pharaoh's momentary admission of guilt, his refusal to release the Hebrews persisted once the storm subsided.
'Biblia Sacra' served as a translation of the Holy Scriptures into Dutch, following the Roman Catholic tradition. The illustrations within this publication aimed to visually convey the narratives and teachings found in the Old and New Testaments, providing a comprehensive and visual interpretation of biblical stories for readers of that time.
